Filmtools and Filmcraft Studio Gear along with Quixote Studios, Production Gear Rentals, Illuminar, Women In Media and many more of our film and entertainment community joined together for a second annual Filmtoys Toy Drive Campaign, in support of the Children’s Institute Los Angeles.
For three weeks, we asked our community for toy donations so we can make a difference in the lives of children and families in need for the Christmas holiday.
Founded in 1906, Children’s Institute is the largest agency of its kind working to transform the lives of children exposed to adversity and poverty in Los Angeles. Given the state of the world in December 2020, we wanted to make this as easy as possible. At first we weren't even sure we'd be able to make this happen. After last year's epic Christmas party and toy bin donations, we didn't quite know how to handle a drive of this nature during a pandemic. As in all things, we found hope and inspiration and we went FULLY VIRTUAL!
Thanks to the amazing team behind You Give Goods (soon to be featured here) https://yougivegoods.com/ and all of you, we reached our goal and were able to get hundreds of toys to the wonderful families of Children's Institute.
We are all so grateful to the many of you who gave your hearts, your time and helped us spread the word. We are also so thankful to Children's Insitute for giving us the opportunity to give back to our community. Yougivegoods made sure everyone that donated received a tax receipt and that all of the toys selected were delivered on time to Children's Institute.
It takes all of us and a little planning to make a difference and it was a huge success. With their help, toys were distributed in an epic, socially distanced way. We couldn't be more proud of this entire community for making this happen.
As promised, everyone that donated was automatically entered into our raffle to win prizes from Filmtools and Filmcraft. We drew random winners last month and awarded prizes to some of the many people who donated to this amazing cause.
Next year, we plan to do a hybrid model of virtual and toy bins so if you are interested in joining us, please contact and we will make sure a toy bin is placed at your business over the holiday period this year and help us keep growing this drive and to continue to increase awareness for this wonderful organization that does so much for the community in Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
Thanks to all of you, our hearts were filled with more joy than sorrow this holiday season and we were inspired to keep working towards doing all we can to help in this community for years to come.
If we can do this during a pandemic, we can do it ANY time and the strength and will of all of your caring hearts will keep the amazing energy of this going.
